Our Director, Kristen Thompson
Our chorus director, Kristen Thompson moved to
California from Boise, Idaho in the late 70's. After graduating from
San Jose State University with a B.A. in Percussion Performance and a
K-12 teaching credential, she began performing, teaching and directing
church choir.Kristen returned to San Jose State University to complete
an M.A. in Choral Conducting while also working during summers obtaining
certification as an Orff-Schulwerk teacher and certification as a
Barbershop Director. Kristen currently teaches pre-K through eighth
grade, performs as a percussionist and also directs the Monterey County
Bay Belles women's barbershop chorus. The Bay Belles meet on Saturday
mornings at the Church of the Wayfarer in Carmel. In her limited
spare time, she enjoys her beautiful ocean view, reading, gardening,
hiking, disc golf and home improvement activities.
